BODY IN PROGRESS 1.2

Video | 2014| colour | stereo |16:9 | 09:00 min.

A woman is gradually mutating and duplicating herself; dancing and merging with her own double in ever new ways - thus giving birth to a multitude of shapes and beings, unveiling hidden identities that exist at the intersection of her body and its mirror image.

Body in Progress 1.2 is an exploration of symmetry. Symmetrical bodies and faces are considered more beautiful than asymmetric ones. Symmetry represents order and makes sense to us. The notion of symmetry led me to manipulate filmed footage of my own dancing body by layering it with it’s mirror image and creating numerous variations of it by shifting the midsagittal plane.
